Thera Books is an independent literary press dedicated to publishing poetry, fiction, creative nonfiction, hybrid-genre, and experimental literature. We are committed to championing bold, daring work by both emerging and established authors whose writing pushes boundaries and speaks with urgency.
At the heart of our mission is a deep investment in our authors. We work collaboratively to support their artistic visions, nurture their growth, and honor the creative risks that make literature vital. Just as importantly, we seek to cultivate a diverse and engaged community of readers who are passionate about language, imagination, and the transformative power of art.
While the books we publish span genres and styles, they are united by emotional bravery, linguistic urgency, and unbridled imagination. We take our responsibility to authors and readers seriously, striving to create welcoming, inclusive spaces where art, language, and the shared human experience can be celebrated together.
Founded in 2019 by Donnelle McGee, Thera Books is named in honor of Thera Denise McGee, Donnelle’s mother. A gifted singer, Thera believed deeply in the power of a single voice to change the world. Her passion inspired Donnelle’s own artistic journey as a poet, and her influence continues to resonate through every book we publish and every reader and writer we welcome into our community.
